Barry Begins Transfer Activity
Clyde manager Barry Ferguson spoke to the official website this afternoon, following yesterday’s news that Hugh Murray, Steven McDougall and Ross Fisher have agreed to sign for The Bully Wee.
“Hugh and Steven bring great experience and a know-how on the game which will be vital to us,” Barry said. “They’ve been involved at Championship level this season and it can be difficult to get guys to take a drop in level, but we’ve been working hard on the deals for a while and I’m delighted that they’ve bought into what I’m trying to do.
“Ross has been involved with the group in training for several weeks now. He can play anywhere across the back and has a great hunger; he hates losing and that’s the sort of guy I want in the squad.
“They are all players who will have loud voices on the pitch and will want to take control of matches and that’s what we’ve been missing this season.”
Subject to SFA clearance, all three players should be available to feature against Queen’s Park on Saturday.
However, Euan Smith and Craig Halkett won’t be in the squad as they have returned to Kilmarnock and Rangers respectively, after reaching the end of their loan contracts.
Barry also confirmed that he was hopeful of concluding two more signings next week and that the squad would be given New Year’s Day off and instead train on Friday, ahead of the visit to Hampden.
