Three Players Join Clyde
The club is pleased to announce that Craig McLeish, Craig Halkett and Euan Smith have joined The Bully Wee.
McLeish has signed from East Kilbride FC on a one-year contract, with Halkett and Smith joining on loan deals from Rangers and Kilmarnock respectively, both until January with the option of an extension.
McLeish, 24, is primarily a left-sided midfielder and was part of the East Kilbride team which won the South Region Challenge Cup last season. He has had previous spells in the senior game with Falkirk, Stirling Albion and Montrose.
19-year-old Halkett (pictured on the homepage) is a product of the Rangers Youth Academy and the central defender took part in The Gers’ pre-season tour of the Highlands. He has also featured for Scotland Under-19s, coming on as a substitute against Switzerland earlier this year.
Smith, 20, can play anywhere in midfield and joined Killie on a three-year deal in the summer, after leaving Hibernian following their relegation. In 2013, Euan gained experience of League One football during a loan spell with Arbroath.
Clyde boss Barry Ferguson said: “I’m delighted to get the three guys in. It’s been a long day with a lot of phone calls, but I’ve been chasing them all for a while so I’m pleased to have finalised the deals.
“Craig McLeish is a left-sided midfielder but also versatile. Craig Halkett is an aggressive centre half and he will give us competition in that area, which we want in every position. Euan is a box-to-box midfielder who will get beyond the front players.
“I’m still in discussion with other potential signings that we can complete after today. I’m still hoping to bring in another two or three, including a defender and a forward.”
