Seven Players Sign New Deals
The club is pleased to announce that seven players have signed a one-year contract extension with The Bully Wee today.
Kevin Watt, Iain Gray, Pat Scullion, Giuseppe Capuano, Ryan Frances, Ross McKinnon and Gordon Young are all staying with Clyde for the 2014-15 campaign.
Watt joined Clyde in 2012 and was joint top scorer in his first season, with a serious ankle injury unfortunately keeping him out of a large part of the season just ended. He did, however, return in time to make a contribution to the play-off matches.
Gray, 23, conversely missed the closing matches due to a broken foot, but has already featured in over 100 matches for Clyde since signing in 2010. The versatile full-back will now enter his fifth season with The Bully Wee.
Scullion is another man who recently went over the 100 appearances mark and can be considered one of the more experienced players in the squad, despite being only 28. Like Gray, Pat provides an option in several positions.
Capuano, Frances and McKinnon all joined the club during the 2013-14 campaign and made an important contribution to the squad in their respective positions.
Young, a product of the club’s youth academy, scored on his first team debut in March and has now been awarded with a professional contract.
Jim Duffy said, “We are delighted to get the majority of the squad signed up. Consistency is important as the bulk of the work is done in pre-season, it is in those weeks that we work on shape and develop our style of play.
“It is good to confirm so many of the players for the campaign ahead and obviously we are looking to add to the squad. I’m already talking to a few players with view to doing that.”
The full list of players currently signed up for 2014-15 is; Jamie Barclay, Nik Rajovic, David Marsh, Ryan Frances, Iain Gray, Fraser McGhee, Ross McKinnon, Brian McQueen, Giuseppe Capuano, Scott Ferguson, Stuart McColm, Pat Scullion, John Sweeney, Gordon Young, Michael Daly, Kevin Watt.
