Queen’s Park 1-3 Clyde
The Bully Wee secured an important victory over bottom of the table Queen’s Park at the Excelsior Stadium today.
Jim Duffy went with the same team that beat Elgin 4-0 last week, keeping faith in young Fraser McGhee at right back.
After the early exchanges, Clyde took complete control of the match with a flurry of goals before half-time. Brian McQueen (pictured) got the opener from Neil Janczyk’s corner before Stef McCluskey made it two only a few minutes later.
McCluskey was then denied by a brilliant save by Blair Lochhead, before a fantastic team move led to the third goal. McCluskey was again involved as he linked up with Scott Ferguson to help Michael Daly get on the scoresheet.
After the break, Queen’s Park hinted at a comeback when Eamonn Brophy pulled a goal back and Blair Spittal missed a glorious chance moments later.
The hosts enjoyed a decent spell of pressure thereafter and Bernard Coll hit the post with a header, but there was no further scoring as Clyde held on for a vital three points.
