More Names Added to Legends Match

Three more additions have been made to the end of season Legends Match, to be played at Broadwood on Sunday 27th April; Frank McGarvey, Allan Maitland and Greg Young.

The three men will take on very different roles on the day.

Taking to the field will be former Scotland Internationalist McGarvey. Frank was a title winner with The Bully Wee in 1993, as he concluded a long and successful career. He featured in over 250 matches for St. Mirren and over 150 for Celtic, where he won several trophies.

Maitland was named manager of Clyde in 1999 and he went on to guide the club to a memorable Second Division title, followed by a long-awaited return to the second tier of Scottish Football. Allan will be taking charge of ‘Team 2’ and his opposite number will be Harry Hood.

Greg ‘Benny’ Young, a former Clyde goalkeeper, will officiate the match as the man in the middle. Greg is a fully qualified referee and brother of ex-FIFA referee, Willie.

Club director, Bobby Gracey said: “Who will forget Frank’s goal down at Queen of the South when he literally pushed Stevie Clarke off the ball to secure a league trophy for The Bully Wee!

“It’ll also be great to have Allan back at the club. His team put the ‘pride back in the Clyde’, based upon the principles of hard work and togetherness.

“We received many offers to referee the match and we’ve been lucky enough to secure the services of Greg, who was a regular at Shawfield under Craig Brown.

“The club, and I am sure the attending fans, will provide the three legends with a warm welcome back to Clyde FC.”
