Billy Carmichael

Everyone connected with Clyde FC was saddened to learn of the death of Billy Carmichael.

Mr Carmichael, a former Clyde player and chairman, passed away last night following a heart attack.

Billy made his debut for The Bully Wee in March 1953, scoring during a win over Rangers at Ibrox. He went on to feature in over 30 matches for the club.

He was invited to join the board of directors in 1992 and then appointed chairman in 1995, a position he held until 2004. Following that, he continued to keep a keen interest in Clyde’s fortunes.

The club sends its condolences to Billy’s family and a fuller tribute will be published in a future edition of The Clyde View.

Details of the funeral arrangements will follow when confirmed.
