Clyde 2-1 Elgin City

The Bully Wee’s good run of form continued today, with a League Two win over Elgin City at a wet and windy Broadwood.

With Jamie Barclay and Stuart McColm both unavailable, Nic Rajovic made his league debut in goals and Gavin Brown also returned to the team in a more advanced role.

Clyde enjoyed the bulk of possession and territory throughout the first half, although clear cut chances were hard to come by. Pat Scullion had the best opportunity when he met a corner, but his header didn’t find the target.

Early in the second half, Elgin came close when Shane Sutherland managed to get a shot away despite being on the ground in the box, but it drifted just wide of Rajovic’s post.

Brian McQueen was then unlucky with two headers in the space of a few minutes; the first being tipped over the bar by Raymond Jellema, with the second being cleared off the line.

However, the opening goal eventually arrived after 74 minutes. Substitute Kevin Watt did well to find Scullion on the right wing and his low cross was perfectly placed for the onrushing Stef McCluskey (pictured) to fire the ball into the roof of the net.

Three minutes later, Scullion got himself on the scoresheet to double Clyde’s lead, blasting the ball home from close range after two shots had been blocked by the Elgin defence.

The Bully Wee looked to be comfortable at that stage but a late goal for the visitors ensured a nervy end to the match. Darrel McHardy scored it with a powerful header from a right wing cross, giving Rajovic no chance.
