Clyde 1-0 Montrose

The Bully Wee’s recent good home form continued today, as a Pat Scullion goal clinched three points against play-off chasing Montrose.

Jim Duffy made four changes to the team that faced Rangers at Ibrox last week, with Jamie Lyden, Sean Fitzharris, Daniel Fitzpatrick and Kevin Watt all coming into the side.

The visitors probably had the better of the first half overall, although they were limited to half chances or failed to find the target from in and around the Clyde penalty box.

Kieran Macdonald came closest to scoring before the break, when his fine effort from distance hit the crossbar.

The introduction of Scullion in the second half seemed to make a difference to the Clyde attack and he notched the only goal of the game after 66 minutes. After Stef McCluskey was fouled outside the box, Macdonald’s fantastic effort from the resulting free-kick crashed off the underside of the bar and bounced down on the line. As claims for a goal were made, Scullion was able to get on the end of the rebound and bundle it into the net.

The Gable Endies pushed to get on level terms and came closest when substitute Scott Gordon smashed a shot off the outside of the cross bar from the right hand side of the box.

However, Clyde saw the match out until the final whistle for a well earned victory.
