Clyde 1-4 Rangers

Two goals for both Andy Little and David Templeton helped Rangers to victory at Broadwood today, as over 7300 people watched the Govan side record a comfortable win.

Jim Duffy brought Gavin Brown and Ryan MacBeth back into the team, following last week’s draw at Berwick.

The opening exchanges of the match were dominated by The Gers and they were soon in a two-goal lead, thanks to a double by Little. Some slack defending gave him room the box to slide a shot past Jamie Barclay. On 24 minutes, he then got the better of Iain Gray before smashing the ball into the roof of the net to make it 0-2.

The Bully Wee continued to struggle to make any impact on the away goal, before the visitors scored again just before half-time. Templeton unleashed a spectacular shot from 25 yards which found the net via the crossbar.

Just after the break, some hope was given to the Clyde support as Kevin Watt (pictured) got a goal back. The striker did well to get on the end of a fine cross by Stuart McColm, with a small touch enough to divert the ball past Neil Alexander.

A decent shout for a penalty for a foul on Stef McCluskey was then waved away by the referee before Templeton sealed the points with another good finish. The winger cut in from the left wing and found the far corner with a powerful shot.

The match was effectively over at that point, but substitute Kieran McGachie came close to getting a consolation goal for Clyde when his header sailed just over the bar.
