Emotional Night for Clyde Legends
Friday 9th November saw the second annual Clyde FC Hall of Fame Dinner, at the Strathclyde Hilton. An excellent evening was enjoyed by over 160 guests, as three more inductees were added to The Bully Wee’s Hall of Fame.
In order of presentation, they were; Harry Haddock, Harry Hood and Craig Brown.
Club Historian and Clyde Archive leader, Gordon Sydney gave an informative introduction to each before they were formally presented with an official momento to mark their induction.
Gerry Haddock (pictured below), son of the late Harry, accepted the award on his father’s behalf and gave a truly heartfelt response to the presentation of his Dad. Eleven members of the Haddock clan attended the evening and he expressed how much the award meant to the family.
This was echoed by Harry Hood (pictured above), also surrounded by his family, who gave an emotional reply to receiving his award.
Finally, Craig Brown (pictured on homepage) brought the evening to a close with a very emotional response to his induction, stating sincerely that the award “meant more to him than any previous accolade” he had been given in football.
As well as the formal proceedings, former Scotland goalkeeper Alan Rough, Clyde boss Jim Duffy and MC Mitch Gibb all contributed to the evening’s entertainment.
Club director and event co-ordinator, David MacPherson said:-
“All three inductees received standing ovations and nobody in the room was left in any doubt as to what the induction into the Clyde FC Hall of Fame meant to each of them and their families.
“In summary, it was an excellent night enjoyed by all who attended and, of course, it raised many thousands of pounds for the club.
“I’d like to thank everyone that attended and helped make the event a success, as we already look forward to the next edition in 2013.”
