Early Preparations

Clyde manager Jim Duffy spoke with the official website on the eve of his own holiday and gave an update on the preparations for the 2012-13 season…

“We’ve arranged to return to the K Park in East Kilbride for pre-season training. It is an excellent facility and ideal for preparing for the campaign ahead so I’m delighted to get that fixed up.

“Player wise, the situation remains the same in that we haven’t signed any players up for next season. As of yet, however, I’ve spoken to around 10 of last season’s squad to return to train with us and it is then that I will make the decision on whether the players have the necessary fitness, desire and commitment to sign for Clyde for the season ahead.

“Of course, some players we would have liked to have stayed have chosen to go already. A couple of First Division clubs have spoken to Declan (Gallagher) and I expect him to join a full-time side in the summer. He was outstanding for us and I wish him well for the future as he certainly has the ability to play at a higher level.

“It is important for us that the players come back fit and ready as we can’t afford to spend time getting people to full fitness before we see if they are suitable. We obviously will have trialists in as well and I’ve spoken to a few players in regard to joining us but it is early days yet. At this time you need to be patient, players rarely want to commit early and they all want to assess their options and that is the same for us.

“We want to continue to progress as a club and we will keep chipping away trying to do just that. It is essential that the players we identify have the right attitude for the campaign before us.”
