Peterhead 1-1 Clyde
Declan Gallagher’s last-minute goal earned The Bully Wee a credible point at Peterhead this afternoon, as the IRN-BRU Third Division season nears its conclusion.
Jim Duffy handed Drew Ramsay his first start for the club, with Gavin Brown and Michael Oliver also added to the team that defeated East Stirling last week.
The Bully Wee started strongly and could have scored twice in the opening five minutes. Lee Sharp missed out with a back post header and Gavin Brown’s fierce drive was saved by Paul Jarvie.
Sharp was next to come close again when his free-kick from the edge of the box struck a post.
Clyde continued to be on top as the first half progressed, although chances on goal became more limited following the opening flurry.
The home side did eventually threaten Nick Feely as half-time approached with two good chances, but a combination of last ditch defending and wasteful finishing ensured a 0-0 scoreline at the break.
The Blue Toon grabbed the initiative early in the second half, however. Brian Deasley’s effort was pushed out by Feely, but Gallagher’s resultant clearance hit Iain Gray and found the back of the net for a freak own goal.
Contrary to the first half, Peterhead looked in control could have increased their lead but for two opportunities that Rory McAllister surprisingly missed.
As the match moved into injury time, substitute Kris Irvine delivered a fine cross into the box which Gallagher headed into the top corner of the goal, securing what was probably a deserved point over the 90 minutes.
