Clyde 1-2 Elgin City

The Bully Wee suffered a disappointing defeat to Elgin last night, as the visitors turned the match around with two goals in as many minutes.

The Highland club suffered traffic problems on their way south, forcing the kick-off to be delayed by 15 minutes. Jim Duffy brought Ryan Kane, John Sweeney and Iain Gray into the starting line-up, with Stephen McDonald, Gavin Brown and Michael Oliver dropping out.

The match started in wet and windy weather and it seemed to take both teams time to adapt to the conditions. However, it was Clyde that took the lead. Following a good move, Iain Gray’s cross was met by Jason Marr, whose header was off target but hit David Niven and found the bottom corner of the net.

The start of the second half saw The Bully Wee create a great opportunity to double the advantage. Kieran Brannan’s pass released Ryan Kane, but his shot was saved by Zander Clark.

Minutes later, Elgin struck back through a 45 yard free-kick. Moore’s speculative effort caught the wind and found David Crawford out of position, with the ball sailing into the top corner of the net.

Moments later, it was 1-2 as the Clyde defence switched off and a back post header from Durnan found its way into goal.

John Neill (pictured) could have levelled the score soon afterwards when he met Lee sharp’s fine cross, but his header was well gathered by Clark.

The rest of the match saw The Bully Wee struggle to create chances, with the in form visitors securing three points towards their promotion challenge.
