Three of The Bully Wee’s first team squad are preparing for a spell out of action.
Defender Declan Gallagher is required to undergo a facial operation this week and is expected to need a recovery period of 6-8 weeks following the procedure. The ex-Celtic man has been a consistent performer in the Clyde defence this season, as explained by Jim Duffy when he spoke to the official website:-
“Declan – along with Brian McQueen – has been excellent at the back so it’s a massive blow for us. It’ll probably be January before he is able to play again.”
Felip Mentel, on loan from Dundee United, is awaiting the results of a scan on his knee after landing awkwardly during Tuesday’s match against Alloa.
“Felip is on crutches and we’ll need to see what his situation is,” Jim said. “We’ve went from being quite solid with a tremendous goalkeeper and two centre backs who have been influential, to having two of them ruled out in the space of a few days.
“It’s going to be a test for us but we’ll just need to deal with the situation.”
Adding his name to the injured list this afternoon was Gavin Brown, who was forced to leave the field during the first half with a hamstring problem. The extent of the injury will be assessed during the week.
