Getting Ready

Bully Wee boss Jim Duffy spoke to official website as he prepared the squad for the trip to Peterhead and for next Tuesday’s game against Alloa…

“It is a tough series of games after a gap but we are looking forward to it and the thing that I am most pleased about is that we are competing in the games now. We are a developing side and are by no means the finished article but I believe we are better organised now than last season and can make it tough for our opponents.”

Many people thought the match with Alloa game would have been deferred until the 19th of this month…

“We discussed it, but you just don’t know where we are going to be weather wise or team wise in three weeks at this time of year and I preferred to press ahead with it. At the moment we only have one slight doubt in Gavin Brown due to a groin strain, but apart from that we have a full squad intact and that is important for us especially in facing these matches.

“We of course considered the possible affect it would have on the crowd and if it would be adversely affected to a large extent, but due to the close proximity of Alloa to Cumbernauld and the fact that the weather is relatively mild we didn’t think it would make a major impact at the moment and therefore I was keen to get the game played.

“I think these are the sort of decisions you have to take as a part-time club – it probably doesn’t please everyone but availability of the players is critical and that situation could change dramatically. As I said, the key thing for me was the fact that the squad is intact now as fortunately we don’t have suspensions or injuries at present and that was the deciding factor. We will use the next blank Saturday as an opportunity to have a friendly match that will allow some of the fringe players an opportunity to feature.”

Jim thoughts turned to Peterhead and the game on Saturday…

“It’s another tough game. I have no doubt that Jim McInally will get the club moving up the league sooner rather than later. They have the players and resources and Jim has the knowledge of this division to make a quick impact but, as I said, we are competitive and we are looking forward to the game.”
