Clyde 0-1 Alloa Athletic

Alloa Athletic left Broadwood with three points last night, following an extremely frustrating match that did little to reward those that turned up to watch.

Gavin Brown (right) returned to the Clyde starting line-up and he was joined by Ryan Kane, as the team adopted a slightly different shape with Paul Hay suspended.

The visitors started strongly and grabbed the lead with their first real attack. Graeme Holmes was in the right place to blast into the net, after a low shot came back out off the post.

It took Clyde a while to get going but they improved as the half progressed, without being able to test away ‘keeper McDowall. However, the match was to completely change after 32 minutes, due to the sending off of Alloa’s Fraser Forrest for his second yellow card for handball. Paul Hartley’s team then adopted an extremely negative but very well organised stance to try and hold onto their lead.

The second half was played almost entirely in The Wasps’ half, but Clyde offered very little threat as they struggled to find any way to trouble the away goal or change the tempo of the match which suited Alloa’s revised game plan.

The Bully Wee’s only two chances before full-time fell to John Neill, but his first effort was saved and his second went over the bar from close range.
