Ramsdens Cup Preview

Clyde manager Jim Duffy is eagerly awaiting the start of the 2011-12 season. Jim spoke to the official website on the eve of the new campaign, as the Bully Wee awaited the visit of Berwick Rangers to Broadwood for the First Round of the Ramsdens Cup…

“We’re all looking forward to the match. Training has gone well and we finished off pre-season by training for the first time on the Broadwood pitch on Thursday night. It was important that the boys, many of whom have not played here, got introduced to it before matchday and the pitch is in fantastic condition. Last season it was the best playing surface in the division and I’m sure it will be the same this term.”

As for the game, Duffy was not for making predictions…

“It’s a cup tie, anything can happen and to an extent it will be in the lap of the gods. The team is fit. They have worked extremely hard and I don’t think we will have a problem with fitness levels but obviously we are still knitting together as a unit with so many new players coming in. No doubt some departments will click together quicker than others but we‘re all just glad to get the talking over, complete the preparations and get started playing in earnest.

“With regards team news, the game has come too early for Paul McMullan and unfortunately Ryan Kane is definitely out with a hamstring injury. Ryan has suffered from this in the past and sadly it’s flared up again.

“Mark Archdeacon is 50/50 as he picked up a knock in our match on Monday night but apart from those two I have a full squad to choose from for Saturday’s game.”
