Duffy To Add ‘Keeper
Clyde continued their preparations for the season ahead with a closed door bounce game against Queen of the South last night. The match marked the appearance of Slovakian goalkeeper Felip Mentel in Bully Wee colours with manager Jim Duffy confirming that Mentel is in the process of joining the club on loan from Dundee United.
Felip, 21, signed a three-year deal with the Tannadice club from Manchester City last summer. The ‘keeper, who has represented his country at under-19 and under-21 level, remains highly regarded by the SPL club but Peter Houston was keen for him to have the opportunity to gain regular first team football and a deal has been proposed to bring the player to Broadwood.
Jim Duffy added, “I’ll be delighted to gain the services of Felip. To have a player with his background and from a club with the pedigree of Dundee United is a tremendous boost as we build for the season ahead.
“Felip will contest with JC for the no.1 jersey and that is important as we need competition for places throughout the squad.”
