Back to Work

It was not traditional weather for the start of pre-season training but notwithstanding that Clyde boss Jim Duffy was delighted to be back in the thick of it…

“It was torrential rain all night which is not the usual conditions for the first day back but nevertheless it was enjoyable and it was good to get working with the players. We had a mixture of signed and unsigned players as well as a few youths.”

The Bully Wee used the Calderglen Training Complex in East Kilbride and Jim was more than complimentary about it…

“The facilities were excellent and ideal for pre-season as you have the opportunity to work on both sides of preparation; the pitches are there for the technical side of things and the country park enables you to concentrate on the conditioning aspect as well. It’s perfect for us at the moment.”

Preparations for the new season were initially altered as the club was restricted in playing home friendlies but the manager was undaunted by that change of plan…

We’ve got a number of matches arranged now but, unfortunately for supporters, nearly all of them will be closed door. The exception, I think, will be our match away to Stenhousemuir on the 16th July.

“Regardless, I’m pleased with the way things are planned out and for now it’s all about working hard with the players, identifying the right guys to complete the squad and getting ready for the big kick-off.”
