PREVIEW: Clyde v Spiders
Saturday sees Clyde’s final home game of the season and Jim Duffy was determined to ensure that the club finishes on a high when he spoke to the official website:-
“The supporters have had it tough we need to give them some light at the end of the tunnel – the progress we have made recently has been good. The squad has worked hard and Tuesday’s result was another example of their commitment and work ethic. The long journey home from Elgin was certainly made easier by the result.
“Saturday will be a different game with Queen’s Park going all out for that final play-off place but we want to continue our good run and it is important that we do. We want to finish the season with that bit of optimism as we look ahead and start building the squad for next season.”
Any suggestion that his own personal future being resolved would offer an extra incentive for the players was dismissed…
“Players play for their own personal pride, to better their own performance and try to improve their individual talent. As coaching team we will try and blend those individual strengths into a strong unit. I’m not going to judge a player over the remaining games of the season, that would be hyper-cynical. I’ll be looking at the performances over the whole period of time since I arrived at the club. The only incentive for the players tomorrow is continue their good form of late so we can end the season strongly.”
A number of players will miss out tomorrow though, as Jim concluded:-
“Marc McCusker misses out through suspension and Ally Park (hamstring) will miss out. I’ve doubts too over Connor Stevenson (calf) and Ricky Waddell (back). Jamie McCluskey has felt an improvement in his hamstring but because of the type of injury we will leave that final decision to nearer the kick-off.
“However, Ross McMillan will return after missing out due to work commitments.”
