Berwick Rangers 1-1 Clyde

Clyde left England with a point yesterday, but it could have been more after a second half performance that yielded several chances on goal.

JC Hutchison, Gavin Brown, Ricky Waddell, Pat Scullion, John Stewart, Willie Sawyers and Aleks Gramovics all returned to the starting line-up, as Jim Duffy switched to a 3-5-2 formation.

The first half was a pretty even affair, with few efforts on goal at either end. Willie Sawyers had the Bully Wee’s best chance when he muscled his way through on the ‘keeper, but Chris McLeod made a last-gasp tackle to block his shot. Berwick came close when Paul Currie’s looping effort from long-range dipped and hit the bar.

After the break, Clyde were on top but lost a goal against the run of play. A quick passing move sliced open the defence and Lee Currie found the bottom corner from inside the box.

However, a deserved equaliser came only minutes later. The Wee Rangers’ McLeod handled the ball in the box and John Stewart made no mistake from the spot.

The rest of the match saw the Bully Wee have several chances to secure three points. John Sweeney and Willie Sawyers both had great positions in the home box, but neither could get a clean shot away.

With only seconds left to play, Alan Lithgow’s header looked to be heading for the net but Ian McCaldon produced a fine save to ensure that a draw was the final outcome.
