Clyde 0-1 Albion Rovers

The Wee Rovers left Cumbernauld with a crucial win this evening, following a disappointing match at Broadwood.

Clyde’s plans were disrupted early in the evening, with Charlie Miller failing to receive clearance to play and Marc McCusker and Ryan MacBeth both being ruled out due to being stuck in heavy traffic.

The problems on the M73 led to some fans arriving late, but in truth they missed little as the visitors dominated a poor contest. Albion’s one-goal lead at the break came through Robert Love, who slipped the ball past Bryn Halliwell after slack defending let the striker in.

The closest the Bully Wee came to scoring in the opening period came late in the half, when a fine effort by Kevin Finlayson was tipped over the bar by Thomas Flynn.

Clyde’s performance showed some signs of improvement after the interval, but chances on goal were still few and far between.

Substitute John Sweeney – already on a booking – completed a miserable night in injury time, when he was shown a straight red card for pulling back Rovers’ Love who had the goal at his mercy. Bryn Halliwell managed to pull off a fine double save from the resultant penalty, but there was no time left to search for an equaliser and the points headed for Coatbridge.
