Clyde 1-2 Albion Rovers
Clyde slumped to a second successive home defeat today, as a late goal helped the Wee Rovers grab all three points.
It was a frustrating afternoon for the Bully Wee, who were unable to turn their dominance into a win.
The Clyde line-up reverted back to a 4-4-2 formation, with trialist Kenny Connolly replacing Connor Stevenson in midfield.
Once again, Clyde started the match brightly and Kevin Finlayson missed a glorious chance to open the scoring, with his volley from an Adam Strachan cross going wide.
Against the run of play, the visitors were awarded a penalty as JC Hutchison was judged to have brought down a Rovers player in the box. Former Broadwood man Tony Stevenson made no mistake from the spot.
Bryan Dingwall scored his first goal for the club to level the scores after 37 minutes. After Finlayson’s shot was blocked, the striker pounced and placed a fine volley into the far corner of the net.
Dingwall came close to doubling his tally just after the half-time break but his effort was cleared off the line.
The majority of the rest of the match was played in Albion’s half but the Bully Wee found it hard to carve out many clear-cut chances. Adam Strachan came close with an effort that drifted just past the post.
With time running out, Clyde suffered a blow when Marc McCusker received a second yellow card for an over-zealous challenge near the touchline.
With ten men, the Bully Wee continued to try and win the match but were dealt a cruel blow in the last minute. A counter-attack led to a dangerous cross coming into the box from the right wing and it was swept into the net by Robert Love, to win the match.
