Clyde 0-2 Arbroath
Clyde’s hopes of survival suffered a crushing blow with a home defeat to closest rivals Arbroath today.
The Bully Wee started on the front foot but were soon to lose a soft goal that influenced the whole match. A ball towards the edge of the box was not dealt with and Bryan Scott’s shot appeared to take a big deflection before hitting the post and trundling over the line.
The visitors then exercised their right to get men behind the ball and slow the game down, which Clyde struggled to get the better of throughout.
The task was made even harder on 34 minutes, when Mitch Megginson pounced on confusion between Reidford and Park to double the lead.
John McCormack tried to change things at half-time but the pattern of the match remained mostly the same, with the Red Lichties defending stubbornly.
Dmitrijs Borisovs (pictured) was unlucky to see his shot hit the post and Marvyn Wilson came close with a long-range effort, but in truth the points always looked like going to Arbroath despite their small amount of forays towards Clyde’s goal.
