Youngsters Added to Stenny Squad
After the disappointment of a blank Saturday last weekend, the squad are desperate to get back into the action against Stenhousemuir at Broadwood tomorrow.
John Brown’s only fresh doubt is Steven Odunewu, who has been suffering from a virus this week.
The Clyde boss has added young trio Connor Stevenson, Steven Howarth and Connor Cassidy to the squad and all could feature. Marvyn Wilson is also set to appear in his first match as a signed player.
John spoke to www.clydefc.co.uk: “We’ve drafted the young lads in as they have been working away with the under-19s and basically we are looking at trying to freshen it up. We need to get more scoring opportunities and want to test the squad out. Against East Fife we had two chances that we should have buried but out with that we never really created. We need to improve on that, so we are looking at the wide areas to see if we can get a bit extra with maybe somebody breaking out from the midfield, simply we are looking to juggle to see if we can get a bit more freshness.
“It’s an ideal opportunity – we have three games in a week and 9 points to play for, if we can start and get a result on Saturday then it could set us up. It’s a busy week but hopefully a fruitful week. We watched Stenhousemuir last week when our game was off. Cowboy and I went through to Ochilview, they are a very hard working side but we’ve seen areas that I hope we can exploit. However to do that we will need to be at our best.
“We of course met in the first game of the season when we were at the early stages of putting the squad together, but now we’ve got to start converting performances into results. We’ve had a number of single goal defeats and that has been most disappointing aspect, we’ve not created enough. They may only be 1-0 defeats but its still 3 points lost. If we can improve and try and turn these narrow defeats into positive results then that will be a huge boost. It’s the beginning of a massive week.”
