Clyde 2-1 Stenhousemuir
Clyde’s secured their second home win in a row at Broadwood this afternoon, following an action-packed match.
There was early controversy when Steven Thomson was sent off for the visitors, following a two-footed tackle on Paul Stewart. Stewart was soon forced to leave the field and was quickly followed by Marvyn Wilson, who was at risk on a booking.
Alan Lithgow had a great chance to score before Steven Howarth made it 1-0 on his first Bully Wee start, poking home a teasing Jay Lang free-kick. The Warriors then hit the bar before the half-time break.
The second half continued to be an open affair and Callum Reidford made three of four fine saves to keep the Bully Wee ahead. Referee Colin Brown also evened up the numbers by showing a second yellow card to Robert Halliday and John Brown was sent to the stand for angrily protesting a different decision.
Alan McFadden missed a one v one chance before he made amends with a fine cross that Willie Sawyers expertly headed into the bottom corner on 83 minutes. The visitors replied within a minute in strange fashion, with Reidford’s stumble allowing a soft header to trickle over the line.
There was still time for some close things at the home goal but the team held on for a crucial three points.
