One-Month Deals for Trio

Alan Lithgow, Dave McKay and Paul McLeod have signed one-month deals with the Bully Wee.

Lithgow and McKay were, of course, at Broadwood last season and were two of the players whose full-time contract was terminated by agreement in June.

Alan has continued to train with the club, however, and John Brown is keen to keep him on. The short-term contract makes him eligible for all the opening games of the season as negotiations continue.

McKay has more recently returned to the fold, scoring in last night’s bounce match at Broadwood.

Ex-Hamilton and Dumbarton striker McLeod, 22, impressed during the trials and he can also now participate in all upcoming matches.

“It’s an opportunity for these players to continue playing and put themselves in the shop window,” boss John Brown said. “Alan has done extremely well for us and it is a boost to get him signed up.”

At the end of a busy 48 hours, John added: “We still have a few other players in mind and obviously we will have to see what materialises regarding the guys who are on monthly deals. Some more trialists may come in but as ever finance will largely dictate.

“I’m just delighted that we have got the vast bulk of the squad together and now we can get on with the job of working with a settled group and prepare for the challenges ahead.

“Many of our players are young and still learning the game but their spirit and energy has been very encouraging.”
