Further Recognition for Youths
Players from Clyde’s youth development department are continuing to catch the eye, with three being named in the latest Scottish Schoolboys Under-18 squad for upcoming home Internationals.
Striker Steven Howarth (left) and defender Sean Febers are again named in the pool, with goalkeeper Jordan Allan also joining them this time.
John Brown has also invited three of the very talented under-17 side to travel with the party to Dundee today, to introduce them to a First Division match day. Howarth, Connor Stevenson and Jordan Morton, who have all featured for the reserves in recent weeks, are the lucky trio.
Director John Ruddy said, “The manager rates these guys and others highly and has told them they could get a chance in the first team before the end of the season. The experience today will help them get ready for that.
“There’s been huge interest in our young teams, particularly the under-17s. We’ve had clubs like Manchester United, Newcastle United, Preston North End, Rangers and Celtic all watching our games recently.
“We’re working hard to try and ensure that these young stars make a real difference to the club in the near future.”
Through friends of the club, two Spanish youngsters from Villarreal have started a trial period with the under-17s and both have impressed the coaching staff already.
