Dundee 2 Clyde 1
The Bully Wee slumped to defeat at Dens Park despite taking a 12th minute lead through Willie McLaren, who pounced on a defensive mistake and lobbed Rab Douglas.
However, Clyde’s hopes were dented by a quickfire double by the home side just before the interval.
Dundee’s equaliser was laced with controversy as it arose immediately after a number of incidents were missed by the referee, which was indicative of a display described in the post match manager’s press conference as the “worst in 30 years.”
The stats will, however, state Colin McMenamin equalised in the 39th minute glancing home a Gilhaney cross. The mad few minutes continued with a couple of bookings and, crucially, Curier giving the Dees the advantage three minutes from the interval after a Pozniak pass played the big striker through.
The second half was an uphill struggle as Dundee protected the lead, but there was agony in injury time as Alan Lithgow couldn’t quite reach the ball at the back post.
So, the Bully Wee slump to ninth place. Clyde now have a fortnight to lick their wounds before a crucial series of games against Morton, Airdrie and Queen of the South.
