Brown’s PM

Clyde boss John Brown spoke to the official website tonight and did not hold back his feelings from Saturday:-

“I’m still raging. I didn’t speak to the press after the game as I was conscious that I’ve criticised referees enough recently and if somebody pressed the button in the post-match then I would probably have regretted it.”

John however focussed on more than one aspect of Saturday’s defeat: “There was shambolic defending and a catalogue of errors. I left the ground earlier than normal after the match as there was plenty to mull over and we’ll be addressing that this week.

“In short, if we continue to defend like that then we are in for a long haul for the rest of the season. My biggest concern is the goals that we are conceding. We went a goal up and then we switched off and lost a goal from a wide area. It is frustrating as I thought we had turned the corner with some clean sheets but we’ve gone back again.

“One thing is certain though if we defend at Dunfermline the way we did on Saturday, then that will be the end of the cup run. Let’s be clear, the whole team has to work at it – I’m not singling out the back three or any individuals, it concerns everyone as we have to work as a team when we don’t have the ball.

“The new boys had a difficult debut. I felt Tony (Stevenson) was off the pace slightly and he needs some games. As for Craig (O’Reilly), again the game was probably too early for him as he re-adjusts to full-time football but I felt at times he made his presence felt. Unfortunately though, he injured his knee during the second half and is going to be out for a couple of weeks.

“The game was probably entertaining for the neutral but not for us. We need to make amends quickly; a couple of decent results can change the league position again but we need to work hard to do that and that has already started.”
