Three Return for Derby Clash

It’s the alternative Glasgow derby tomorrow as the Bully Wee travel to Maryhill to take on Partick Thistle.

It’s John Brown’s first game at Firhill as manager and he is able to welcome three players back into the squad.

Willie McLaren, Mark Brown and Dave McKay all have a chance of featuring. Billy Gibson has also made a full recovery from a minor knock received during the week to take his place in defence.

Definitely missing for Clyde are Neil McGregor (ankle) and Paul Emslie (knee).

“It’s five matches since we won the derby and it’s time we changed that pattern,” John said this evening.

“It’s good to see players returning to the squad. People can say that mentioning injuries are just excuses but it is a fact that we have been hit hard by injuries this year. We looked a decent side pre-season but since then we have been unable to field a settled side and that has an effect.

“The Livingston game was a crucial victory for us but as I said on the day it came at a cost. The next week we had to make five changes and our squad struggled whereas Ross County were able to bring on subs who made an immediate impact.

“I can’t fault the players’ effort and commitment and tomorrow will require more of the same. We need to repeat the level of performance that we showed in the second half of our previous match with Thistle. They have come off an excellent result against Queen of the South and it will be another major test for us.

“Its a derby match but the boys know exactly what is required of them and we will go out to create the chances to get that result that is long overdue.”
