All Square in Friendly Match

A strong reserve team lined-up against Partick Thistle at Lesser Hampden today and finished with a 1-1 draw.

Due to the unavailability of one of the original match officials and a failure to find a late replacement the match, following agreement between the two Clubs, was played as a friendly and not a Reserve League Cup tie.

Both goals came in an entertaining first half that contained plenty of chances at either end, with the Bully Wee having the majority of them.

Gary McSwegan and Marc McCusker came close for Clyde before a mix up between Cherrie and Lowing gave Thistle the lead via a tap-in. Alan Lithgow then came close to converting a free-kick that was flighted into the box before the equaliser finally came.

Good work by McLaren, McSwegan and McCusker led to a corner that Jags’ ‘keeper Craig Hinchcliffe fumbled, allowing McSwegan to finish well.

Before the break, there was still time for McCusker to see his effort saved at point-blank range.

The second period was less open, although Roddy MacLennan, McCusker and Ohnesorge all came close to finding a winner towards the end of the match.

CLYDE (4-4-2): Cherrie, Lowing, Ohnesorge, Murch (Stephen Connolly 68), Brown, Lithgow, Roddy MacLennan, Trouten, McSwegan, McCusker, McLaren.
