Clyde 0 v 2 Queen of the South

Goals from Gary Arbuckle and Stephen Dobbie earned Queen of the South a victory at Broadwood today and it was one that they deserved for a strong second half showing.

The first period had been a tight affair, although few clear-cut chances were created at either end. Clyde suffered a blow before half-time when Billy Gibson was forced to take an early bath due to an ankle injury. The defender was this evening on his way to hospital to have it checked.

Queens started the second half brightly and it didn’t take long for them to open the scoring. The script was set for Arbuckle and he coolly slotted the ball into the corner when the ball broke to him at the edge of the box.

Only a few minutes later the match looked to be over when Dobbie pounced on a ball headed into the box to drive the ball past Peter Cherrie, although the ‘keeper nearly kept it out.

The Bully Wee tried to get back into the match, but it was the away side who came closest to scoring again when they hit the net for a third time but it was disallowed for a foul.
