Waddell Returns for Dens Trip
The Bully Wee travel to Dundee tomorrow for the first away match of the 2008-09 IRN-BRU First Division campaign.
Summer signing Ricky Waddell (pictured) has returned to full training and has been added to tomorrow’s squad. However, Neil McGregor continues to be ruled out with a knee problem and Marvyn Wilson will serve the second of a three-match league suspension.
John Brown also has three doubts ahead of the match. David Hutton missed the midweek win over Queen’s Park due to a finger injury, although the ‘keeper trained today and could make it.
Roddy MacLennan and Willie McLaren are also doubtful with minor knocks and a late decision will be made on their fitness tomorrow.
The Clyde boss spoke to the official website this afternoon:-
“Every game in this league is going to be hard so it’s about how we apply ourselves. Dundee are favourites to get promoted and we’re not expected to do anything so we can go up there and aim to prove people wrong. I think the players are looking forward to that challenge, individually and collectively.
“It’s fair to say that some of the boys have still got a bit to find in terms of stepping up to the First Division but their work ethic and attitude has been great.
“It’s going to be very difficult tomorrow – Dundee got a great result at Ross County last week – but we’re going there to have a go and try to win the game. We need to be wary of their front line but we’ve got players that can cause the opposition problems in their half. That’s what we want to do.
“It’s Dundee’s first game in front of their own fans so expectations will be high but we want to go and spoil the party.”
