They All Count
Mark Brown spoke to the media yesterday, shortly after he earned Clyde a point with a dramatic goal in the 95th minute of the match:-
“Neil was behind me and managed to create some space so that I could get onto the ball – it was my goal! The last goal I scored was in the Scottish Amateur Cup Final at Hampden which was a long-range strike but it doesn’t matter how they go in. I want to do well for Clyde so I’m pleased to have put one in that got us a point. We didn’t play very well but we’ve come away with a draw.”
The former Eddlewood Amateurs man said that one pre-season match in particular had prepared him for the rigours of the First Division:-
“The Rangers match was played at a very high tempo and I was up against Miller and Darcheville so today was similar to that really.”
Mark revealed that Clyde were not the only club to notice his form in the amateur ranks:-
“I was doing quite well at Eddlewood and managed to get into the Scottish Amateur team. There were a few clubs looking at me so I thought I would get another chance at senior football and now I want to take it.
“I played in midfield for Eddlewood but the gaffer wants me to play in defence and that’s my preferred position. Higgy and I are getting on well together and when we have played three at the back with Gibby I think we’ve done well then as well.”
