Clyde 4 v 1 Queen’s Park
Clyde are through to the Second Round of the Co-operative Insurance Cup after a win over Queen’s Park although it wasn’t as easy as the scoreline suggests.
Roddy MacLennan got The Bully Wee off to a good start on 15 minutes when he pounced on a loose ball at the edge of the box and did brilliantly to keep his half volley down and find the net.
The Spiders were on top for much of the remainder of the half, although Peter Cherrie had little to do in the Clyde goal.
On 63 minutes, Billy Gibson made it two when he met a sweetly flighted free-kick by Alan Trouten to score a fine header. Just as it looked as though Clyde were comfortable, Harkins pounced on defensive indecision to make it 2-1.
However, two late goals by Gary McSwegan sealed the win. The first at the second attempt after his penalty – awarded for a foul on Roddy MacLennan – was saved and the second a tap-in after good work by McLaren and Ohnesorge.
