Clyde 3 v 0 Hibernian

Clyde produced an excellent performance at Broadwood tonight to defeat a near full strength Hibs side in the last friendly of the summer.

The fact that several first team players did not start the match makes the scoreline even more promising, although the usual caution regarding pre-season results will apply.

Clyde were on top for the majority of the first half and Dave McKay got the first goal when Scott Gemmill flicked on a corner and he provided the final touch.

Roddy MacLennan got the second when he unexpectedly fired a fine shot into the bottom corner of the net from a wide angle. It wasn’t all one-way traffic though and moments later Peter Cherrie pulled off a marvellous save from close range.

At half-time, the guest stars from the 1958 Scottish Cup Final were introduced to crowd and received a very warm welcome.

On 52 minutes, some great midfield play led to the impressive Willie McLaren collecting the ball on the wing and he set up McKay to drill home his second of the night.

A number of substitutions then followed and The Bully Wee were forced to defend more but the team held firm to record a great final outcome.
