Golf Day: Medal Winner!
Last Friday, just 24 hours before The Bully Wee’s crunch match against Airdrie, the 2nd Clyde FC Annual Golf Day took place at Lenzie Golf Club and turned out to be a big success.
The event was very well attended by celebrities and players alike, with everyone in attendance commenting on how much they enjoyed the day.
Clyde’s John Brown, Andy Goram and Craig McKeown were joined by a number of other well known names from Clyde’s past and the football world in general.
A tremendous sum of £10,000 was raised for the club and plans are already underway for next season’s follow-up.
Following the action on the course, there was a surprise presentation to Neilly Hood.
Neil returned to Shawfield for a second time to help steer the club to the Second Division title in 1981-82, but sadly didn’t receive a winners medal because he didn’t play in enough matches.
Chairman and Manager from that time, Billy Dunn and Craig Brown, were present to pay their tributes to Neil and finally award him with a winners medal that was unearthed recently.
Mr Dunn commented: “As soon as I came across the spare medal, I knew there was only one place it should go!”
