Clyde 2 v 0 Airdrie United (3-0)

A little bit of history was made at Broadwood today when Clyde became the first club to win the First Division Play-Offs having finished in 9th place.

Neil McGregor returned to the Clyde defence and the opening period was a tense but entertaining affair. The visitors were on top for large spells but it was Clyde who were creating the chances.

Pat Clarke made Robertson work with a 20-yard shot and the ‘keeper was even better in keeping out Ruari MacLennan’s drive. Alan Russell did, however, miss a great opportunity to open the scoring before half-time but Hutton got down well at his feet to save.

Just after the break Gary McSwegan latched onto a bouncing ball and slipped it past the onrushing Robertson to open the scoring. The Bully Wee were well on their way to victory when, on 65 minutes, MacLennan and Billy Gibson brilliantly set up Clarke who finished spectacularly at the back post.

The final whistle confirmed Clyde as First Division Play-Off Winners for 2007/08 and assures First Division football next season.
