Sadie Donegan

Everyone at the club was saddened to learn of the death of former Clyde laundry lady Sadie Donegan last Friday.

Sadie, who was well known to everyone at the club’s former home, Shawfield, had over thirty years service as the lady who looked after all the playing and training kit.  So much so, that Sadie was the recipient of a special award from fellow supporters at a Player of the Year function some years ago, for her unstinting service to The Bully Wee.

During Sadie’s working life, she saw service with no fewer than ten Clyde managers including John Prentice, Davie White, Archie Wright, Archie Robertson, Stan Anderson, Mike Clinton, Bobby Waddell, Billy McNeill, Craig Brown and John Clark.

In her brief spell at Firhill, she also struck up a friendship with then Partick Thistle boss Derek Johnstone.

Sadie died after a short illness and would have celebrated her 95th birthday on 15th June. Her funeral mass takes place at 10am on Wednesday 2nd April at St Columbkille’s Parish Church in Rutherglen.

The club would like to express its sincere condolences to Sadie’s family at this difficult time.
