Clyde 1 v 4 Queen of the South
Clyde crashed to a heavy defeat against Queen of the South at Broadwood this afternoon. A Stephen Dobbie double, a Tosh penalty and a Bestvina own goal sealed Clyde’s fate. The Bully Wee’s only consolation was a Masterton penalty that briefly gave the home fans hope but it was all to no avail.
Throughout the game Queens looked the more incisive and confident with Tosh orchestrating proceedings in the middle of the park and O’Connor and Dobbie being a constant threat.
The financial investment made in the Doonhamers is certainly reaping benefits now, with a Scottish Cup semi-final place booked and third place in the league a realistic aim, the Dumfries side was rarely troubled today.
Meanwhile, Clyde have a major task ahead to rebuild in time for Tuesday night’s clash with another Scottish Cup semi-finalist, St Johnstone. After the match Manager John Brown focussed on the poor defending and with a trip to Dens Park to play Dundee to follow next Saturday, he will be anxious to see the players respond and restore the club’s fortunes at this critical time.
