Dave Signs On
Dave McKay has signed for Clyde. The 23-year-old has signed on amateur terms for the rest of the season. Boss John Brown is convinced he can make an impact and he has used former Clyde star Dougie Imrie as an inspiration to the young forward:-
“Dave has to look at Dougie, who is now playing in the SPL. Two years ago, Dougie arrived from the juniors and he worked hard at his game and has got his reward. Dave has done extremely well since he has come here. It’s an ideal situation for us after the disappointment of losing Gary Arbuckle for six weeks.
“He has good awareness, a great touch, excellent pace and an eye for goal. He has a chance but he needs to continue to work hard.”
John concluded, “Dave will come into contention for the first team squad. His fitness levels are good and we’ll discuss a full-time professional deal in the summer.”
McKay has played with Swinton and Drumchapel United, where the former Rangers striker John MacDonald is a committee member, and the flying machine has also represented Scotland at amateur level.
The striker scored twice in a recent reserve match against Hamilton and he will be determined to get on the scoresheet when he gets his chance in the first team.
