Candid Colin
Colin Hendry addressed and held a question and answer session with around 100 supporters at Broadwood last night at his first Fans’ Forum. A wide range of football related questions were asked of Colin who replied with honesty and realism throughout, which was much appreciated by the crowd.
The hottest topic was, understandably, the progress being made on making additions to the squad with the season’s opener at Cappielow fast approaching.
Colin was keen to stress that he would use all of the available transfer window time if needed but didn’t rule out the possibility of news in the coming days:-
“Time is short but we’re trying to add to what we have before Saturday. We’ve got a lot of youth in our side and at the moment we’re trying to go through all the options that are being made available to us to find the people who can add a bit of experience and a bit of strength to the squad.
“I want someone with a bit of experience in the middle of the park and up front is an area we’re looking to strengthen quickly. As I’ve said before though, I don’t want to make big changes to the starting team so the main problem is that we are short of bodies to compete with the players we already have.
“I am looking to add about six players to the squad by the end of the transfer window so that we will run with a squad of around eighteen, plus about five YTS boys.”
The Bully Wee boss also gave an update on the hunt for an Assistant Manager but again stated that he was happy to wait to try and get the right man:-
“I targeted two or three people, with the main one being James Grady of course. After a week or ten days discussion with James he felt that playing in the SPL again was too good an opportunity to turn down. We are now looking at other options but there are a lot of boxes to tick to fill that position. I’d like it to be someone who will also score 20 goals a season but it’s very difficult to get that person.”
