Bursting With Pride

An interesting e-mail to www.clydefc.co.uk from Bill Horton that was published on the homepage this week was enjoyed by fellow supporter James Paterson and he also wrote to us with his own memories of the same period:-

Dear Editor,

I read Bill Horton’s recent letter with great interest. My family go back to the very start of the club and I am a 4th generation supporter.

My first game was against Hibs in the 1958 Cup Final when a Johnny Coyle goal brought us the glory. I was only 10 years old and still remember Harry Haddock lifting the old trophy. My heart was bursting with pride. I thought then, and still do, that The Bully Wee are the greatest team in the world.

My favourite player was Tommy Ring though George Herd came a close second, but everyone in that team was my hero. McCulloch, Murphy and Haddock; Walters, Finlay and Clinton; Herd, Currie, Coyle Robertson and Ring. What a team!

I hope Colin signs some new players soon, though what I saw against Oldham wasn’t too shabby.

I’d like to wish everyone at Broadwood the very best of luck for 2007-08 season.

Yours sincerely,

James Paterson
