Hendry Back Home
Colin Hendry spoke exclusively to www.clydefc.co.uk late this afternoon and he left no doubt about how pleased he was at being offered the job as Manager of Clyde FC: “Simply, it just felt right. I had several discussions with the directors and I was impressed by their honesty and openness.
“I had options north and south of the border as well as overseas but I knew that this was the right choice. It was doubly pleasing to get a chance to manage in my own country too so that is an added bonus. It was a crossroads for my family, as my eldest son had just finished exams; there were a lot of decisions to make as this job came out of the blue but it is fantastic to return to Scotland”.
“It is going to be a hectic time. There will undoubtedly be a lot of work to be done as I gear myself up to working in the First Division but I understand the scale of the task in hand and will be ready for the new season. I can’t wait to get working with the players.
“The directors have told me that due to our lack of resources Clyde are always one of the pundits’ favourites for relegation. My arrival will not change that view. It will not be an easy job but I have learnt a lot from my first experience of management.
“I want us to play good football but equally I am under no illusions that I will be judged on results. My job is to progress the talent that is here at Broadwood and coach them to the next level. My number one priority, therefore, is to help the young lads along and I hope to bring in an experienced player who will assist me in that role.
“The job here is about nurturing the talent and I will work as hard as I can to bring success to Clyde.”
