Working Hard

It’s been week of hard work on the training pitch as the players are keen to respond to the disappointment of their early cup exit to Gretna. In an effort to sharpen up for the weekend, Joe Miller felt it worthwhile to put together a practice match.

The players faced St.Mirren in a bounce game at Broadwood on Wednesday afternoon with the SPL side shading it by 2 goals to 1. Regardless of the result it was an important workout for the players as they turn their minds to facing Queen of the South.

Following their cup suspensions, Craig McKeown and Michael McGowan will comeback into the reckoning but Joe Miller would not be drawn if any new faces would be arriving in time for the match at Palmerston.

The website understands however, that this week four players have been training with the squad in order for Joe to assess their worth with a view to adding to the squad.

One player who will not feature again for Clyde is Paul McHale. The midfielder today moved to Dundee. McHale had earlier in the month signed a pre-contract agreement and it was felt in the best interests of all for McHale to move earlier to the Dens Park club.

Prior to coming to Clyde, McHale had experienced the harsher aspects of the game as he had been freed by Rangers and St.Mirren and found himself in junior football with Sauchie. A transfer to Cowdenbeath followed before his move to Clyde turned his career around. He goes with the best wishes of the club.
