Clyde 2 Dundee 1

Clyde made it 9 games unbeaten with a hard fought 2-1 victory over Dundee. Gary Arbuckle scored from close range after a fine move and a Stephen O’Donnell penalty gave the Bully Wee a 2-0 half time lead. In truth it was a rather tame first period but the same could not be said for the second half which was packed with controversy.

Neil McGregor was sent off in the 50th minute as the referee judged that he committed two bookable offences within the minute and the match burst into life. Dundee pressed and gave no quarter and finally got their reward in the 88th minute when Ref Dougie MacDonald pointed to the spot following a challenge on Dundee player boss Alex Rae.

Gavin Swankie shot home and as Dundee hoped to grab an equaliser the match exploded as Dundee forward Andy Mclaren clashed with keeper David Hutton as they wrestled for the ball. However the incident was not over as McLaren argued with Clyde captain Eddie Malone for which he received a second yellow.

On leaving the field, McLaren clashed with Clyde full back Michael McGowan and it appears received further cautions for his conduct.

Despite the injury time Clyde held on in comfort for an important victory. In all the uproar the return to Broadwood of Alex Williams (pictured above) albeit as a trialist was overshadowed.
