Montrose 0 V 3 Clyde

Clyde progressed to the Quarter Finals of the Challenge Cup with what turned out to be a comfortable victory over Montrose. The Bully Wee were made to work for the win but after Paul McHale opened the scoring in the 40th minute, the Clyde team grew in confidence.

Andy Ferguson got his first for the club on the hour mark though it was Dougie Imrie who stole the show with a great volley in the 90th minute that put the icing on the cake for an excellent win. Clyde’s name is now in the hat for the next round alongside: Albion Rovers, Ayr United, Arbroath, Gretna, St Johnstone, Morton and Ross County.

Clyde started the stronger but after missing some half chances Montrose gained confidence. However as the half wore on, Clyde began once more to take the ascendency and deservedly took the lead albeit from the penalty spot.
