Forward Tom Brighton and goakeeper Peter Cherrie spoke to the website after today’s cup clash. Tom was first to comment: “It was played in a Cup spirit, maybe not the best of games for the neutral, but both teams gave it 100% with honours even.”

“We’re looking forward to the replay. As the home side we are obviously disappointed at not winning but to be fair to them Gretna are seasoned pros who have been about and they played well at a high tempo. I thought the sendings off were basically handbags stuff. A few of the guys around the ref were saying there was no need to send the boys off, it was very harsh. I then get booked ten minutes later for diving and I’ve got six studs down the back of my calf. A few of their players commented to me later that it was a stonewall penalty.”

“Both teams don’t want to go out or give anything away and that makes you a bit on edge. Both teams think they can go a long way. Everyone is aware of that with no team to fear but we are looking forward to the replay and I’m sure it will be another hard fought game.”

Peter Cherrie (pictured right) then spoke. “Before the match we were told it was going to be the hardest game of the season and so it proved. They should have been 3-0 up at halftime. The gaffer told us a few things at half-time and in the second half we had a couple of chances. The players are gutted. We all know we can play 100 times better and now we need to prove that at Gretna.”
