Clyde V Gretna Scene Setter
It’s Scottish Cup time again and when the draw was made for the Third Round very few Clyde fans expected to be in cup action in February. History was made against Celtic and Clyde were rewarded with another home tie, this time against Gretna.
Gretna have grabbed all the headlines and deservedly so, with their meteoric rise and goalscoring feats. Gretna are certainly Second Division Champions-elect and having beaten St Johnstone in the Third Round will not fear another trip to a First Division ground.
In many people’s eyes Clyde are once again underdogs for this tie and it is a match that manager Graham Roberts is under no doubt that each and every player will have to
From the training ground Graham has reported a fully fit squad who are working hard. “We’ve chatted about the goals we conceded against Hamilton and have specifically been working with the midfield and the defence to date.”
“It’s a boost to have everyone available. The only difference to Saturday’s squad from the Accies game will be the addition of Craig McKeown (pictured right) who is back from suspension, Dougie Imrie and Alex Williams who are all working hard to be selected for action.”
Fears that the game might be in jeopardy because of the sub zero temperatures have subsided today. The covers were put on and hot air blowers were brought in to thaw the pitch and by this afternoon Broadwood was playable once more.
